Some estimates place the theft of U.S. intellectual property in 2016 at between $300-$400 billion dollars.  This translates to a loss of jobs and future economic prosperity.  Much of this theft can be attributed to malicious insiders or successful intrusion and the resulting exfiltration of trade secrets or PII/PHI from corporate networks.  The cyber threat extends far beyond this, to SCADA/ICS systems and mobile medical devices, most of which are under the protection of the private sector.  Because of this, the importance of forming public private partnerships  to combat these threats is vital.  Byron will describe the importance of leveraging partnerships, describe basic avenues of cyber attack and suggest some possible mitigations.
